Adult Swim Lessons - A Word of Caution!
How often have you tried to learn to swim in (Privacy lacking) public
(outdoor?) Pools or Hotel Pools? How difficult was it, while taking
Lessons, to tolerate the Presence of Children, other Swimmers and
Spectators?How much Experience with fearful Adults did your
Instructor have? How much Time was spend to teach you just
"Mechanics"- not taking into Account your past negative
Experiences and lifelong Fear of Water?
Learning to swim at Home with its typical Work and Family- related -
Distractions is difficult for Adults and highly questionable, when:
1) Pools are too cold, to keep you comfortable + relaxed,
2) Instructors "teach" from outside the Pool,
3) Instructors have ONLY Experience with Children,
4) Necessary Water Familiarity Exercises are neglected,
5) Lessons only once per Week, over many Month
delay Muscle Memory Development and.....Progress,
6) Additional Clothing (Hats, T-Shirts) has to be worn to
protect against Sunburn in outdoor Pools,
7) (Buoyancy changing) Neoprene Vests are needed, to
keep you warm if Water is below 92F,
8) Success is NOT guaranteed, due to Conditions NOT
conducive to adult Learning.
NOTHING, however, is more embarrassing for Adult Beginners, than
